• I was hired by an ad agency to handle the Perdue account, I was their chief designer/productionist for more than four years, producing everything from sales sheets, brochures, and posters...to labels, packaging, etc. • Because of my background in typography, expertise in page layout, and my exceptional Photoshop/Illustrator skills, I was a perfect fit for them. • I was averaging 5-10 projects a day (including Saturdays)...producing everything from posters, brochures flyers to packaging and labeling. • I was called in to handle IHOP's variable-data master menu. • This menu was on a tight deadline and went through a massive amount of content changes from corporate headquarters. • I anticipated these changes and built the menu with this in mind. • Throughout the process I used my... • Typography skills to solve layout fit problems, while making text “highly readable and aesthetically pleasing”. • Photoshop skills to correct and adjust photos, outline plate shots, etc. • Illustrator skills to create and modify various VECTOR icons and third-party logos throughout the menu. • I tweaked an entire font family (using FontLab and Fontographer) so that when the printer poured in the variable data, the register mark was a “tasty, little one” (instead of the “horsy big one” that came with the font). • Using my command of the English language, I gave IHOP feedback concerning text that was “unclear”...suggesting copy changes, and punctuation for clarity. • IHOP was so thrilled with the turnarounds and attention to detail, that they’ve since given us other menu and marketing projects (nutritional menu, take out menu (variable data), fax menu (variable data), table tents, posters...EVEN FLASH ANIMATIONS. • THIS ACCOUNT IS STILL ACTIVE, AND STILL GROWING. • I was asked in to handle the BJ’s account because their designer/productionist was not able to keep up with BJ's growth. • I converted all their Quark documents to InDesign (over 200 of them) and went through each one, cleaning them up and establishing a comprehensive style sheet system • I developed an InDesign-integrated XML database to handle their complex beer menu. • THIS ACCOUNT IS STILL ACTIVE, AND GROWING |
